What Does Success Mean To You?
More often than not, society defines success as having a good job, a house, a beautiful spouse, or some other superficial indicator of status. But, the true definition of success is dependent on the person and their mindset.
Some people feel a sense of accomplishment just by getting out of bed in the morning, and that’s okay. Other people plan for world domination. Success is about your desires, needs, and personal goals. It is a broad spectrum colored in shades of gray, not just black and white.
If you’re like me, success equates to happiness, independence, purpose, and fulfilling my basic needs.
So, what does success mean to you, and how can you achieve it?
Reflecting To Define It
Like I said before, success is cultivated from your mindset. This means that first, it’s essential to define what success means for YOU. What brings you joy and makes you feel fulfilled? Can this feeling be sustained healthily and productively?
Some ways to reflect on your success beliefs are journaling, meditating, talking to a friend, or spending some alone time in nature. It’s important to define success for yourself and not depend on others’ definitions. Otherwise, you will be living for them instead of in alignment with your true purpose.
Is It ALL About How You Start Your Day?
I guarantee that if you Google “how to be successful,” every article will read, “include a morning routine.” Well, I’m here to tell you that both good and bad mornings don’t define your day or your success. But, there is some truth to what they say. Mornings can set the tone. But what if you have a terrible morning and feel like your day is wasted? How do you fix that?
Reframe your day into “quarters.” It’s like watching a football game. Just because your team lost in the first quarter doesn’t mean they won’t win. So keep an open and optimistic mind moving forward. You have the potential to turn your day around.
How To Start Your Day Off Right
-Get up at the same time every day, whether it be 5 am or 10 am. Just ensure there is some consistency in your routine.
-Tackle tasks immediately. There is power in making your bed. When you accomplish something early, it gives you the velocity to continue that productivity.
-Create a plan. To-do lists are saviors for me. Lists prepare you for the day ahead and give you clarity on what needs to be completed.
-Move your body. Some people go to the gym, and others do a ten-minute yoga routine. Either way, moving your body is essential to good physical and mental wellbeing.
-Eat a nutritious breakfast. Fuel your body and maintain mental focus for the tasks that lay ahead.
-Repeat a motivational mantra or positive affirmation.
Be Curious. Learn Something New Every Day
The ongoing and lifelong practice of learning is what makes our lives worthwhile. So why stay stuck in your box? Learn something new.
“Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't.”
-Bill Nye
