Finding Your Side Gig: 12 Options To Explore

Finding Your Side Gig: 12 Options To Explore

After the Coronavirus Pandemic, “side hustles” have become increasingly popular and prominent for American workers. When the restaurant industry that I had been a part of inevitably shut down, I began researching other methods of income that would be safe, convenient, enjoyable.

Other unemployed workers did the same, and many still have their side gig after things have slowly reverted back to “normal.”

For me, I transformed my passion and hobby of storytelling into a new, steady stream of income. My fellow workaholics know the excitement of generating more supplemental revenue.

If you don’t have a side hustle and want one, or maybe you’re looking for another, this article is for you. We will explore 12 unique gigs that almost anyone can do.

  1. Check Out Craigslist Gigs

Earning Potential: Varies

This isn’t to be confused with the “Jobs” category, usually for those looking for full-time employment. The “Gigs” section on Craigslist lets you put your skills to use when you’re not on the clock. This can include anything from manual labor to creative projects. The income potential is vast. This is an excellent opportunity for freelancers to gain clients and expand their portfolios and for those looking for extra cash.

Some gigs include:

-Graphic Design (creating logos, making T-shirt designs, book cover formatting, etc.)

-Video Editing and Production (photography, wedding videographers, set designers, assistance, etc.)

-Writing and Editing (producing articles, editing essays, writing a script, developing resumes, etc.)

-Technology and Computers (IT, database management, etc.)

-Talent and Events (modeling, acting, singing, music, birthday party clown, becoming an elf on a shelf, etc.)

-Labor/Domestic work (cutting grass, shoveling snow, painting, etc.)

  1. Host Trivia Nights

Earning Potential: $125/week

Cut up some paper for answer sheets, sharpen those pencils, test the audio system, and prepare to get paid! This particular gig can pay up to $125 per week and allow you to meet new people and have some fun! The only credentials you need are a good attitude and charisma.

  1. Create an Etsy Account and Sell

Earning Potential: $50,000/year

Etsy is the market for everything handmade. You can sell your jewelry, clothing, art, buttons, homemade cards, or anything else you’ve crafted! This can be one of the most lucrative side gigs for those with dedication and creative ability.

  1. Sell Old Junk

Earning Potential: $100-$3,000/month

Whether it’s by holding a yard sale, posting on the Facebook marketplace, or selling on eBay, getting rid of your trash (treasure) can bring in some serious dough! Not only does this help you downsize and organize your space, but it also provides you with the opportunity to make money.

  1. Become a Virtual Assistant

Earning Potential: $1,000-20,000/month

Virtual assistants are in high demand and can work from anywhere. This is an extremely popular gig for digital nomads and full-time travelers. All you have to do is help launch a digital entity and maintain the demand. It varies on each business, but you’ll most likely be in charge of scheduling, posting, etc. Plenty of online courses are designed to teach you how to become a virtual assistant to optimize your value.

  1. Become a Freelance Writer

Earning Potential: $100-$300/post

Put your writing skills to work and become a freelancer. A freelance writer can do anything from produce press releases to blog posts to newsletters. The opportunities are vast. It mainly depends on your skills and preferences. There are plenty of online platforms such as Fiverr and WritersWork to help you launch your career as a freelance writer.

  1. Become an Amazon Seller

Earning Potential: $1,000-$2,000/month

Just like eBay, Amazon enjoys a vast and global audience where people buy and sell. In addition to personal items, there is an option to ponder thrift stores and find some gems, such as books, and place them for sale on Amazon. To do this, download the app, “ScoutID,” head to your nearest thrift store, and find books worth selling!

  1.  Buying, Selling, and Trading Cryptocurrency

Earning Potential: $55,000-$163,000/year

A Crypto Trader is someone who profits from short-term changes in the market price of cryptocurrencies, altcoins, and value tokens. The goal is to buy when prices are low and sell when they rise higher. Becoming a Crypto Trader offers you a viable source of income, freedom, and essential information on the future of commerce. Getting warmed and up to this somewhat new industry can be a challenge. BUT, several online sources are willing to help you get started with blockchain technology.

  1.  Become an Affiliate Marketer

Earning Potential: $100-$3,000/day

Affiliate marketing is the act of earning commission from companies that offer an ambassador program. The commission depends on each business, but this type of marketing can provide you with a stable income. There are many different affiliate programs with products such as software, clothing, makeup, and online programs. There are different rules depending on the business model, so you’ll need to check the ones you’re interested in to understand how much money you could potentially make.

Earning Potential: $150/hour

By sharing your honest opinion and providing valuable feedback on services/products, you can make $150/hr. Focus groups are usually held in person, but some can be found online. Search around and find one that sounds right for you! Survey sites are also similar in the sense of trading feedback for money. But they tend to pay a lot less.

  1. Write a Children’s Book

Earning Potential: $1,000-$10,000/book

Writing and publishing a children’s book isn’t the easiest thing to do, but it is possible and can provide a hefty payout! Know your market, refine your manuscript, produce some fantastic images, and get started on your journey as a published author! Although it sounds simple, I highly recommend doing some research and creating a lucrative plan for yourself.

As you can see, the possibilities for side hustles are endless. So get started today! Some extra cash never hurt anyone, right?
