When it comes to the world of fashion, it’s usually way ahead of the rest of us--at least on the calendar, anyway. That’s because fashion weeks have already been held in 2021 that showcased some of the trends coming up for spring and summer wear this year.
It’s still winter, but let’s take a look at some of the fashion trends we’ll be seeing later on this year, according to The Trend Spotter. It will give you plenty of time to find the perfect trendy piece to rock as the weather warms up later on.
Beads and Baubles
Beads made an appearance in the style lineups for spring and summer. They ranged from sparkly pops of pearlescent pretties to edgier, metallic dots.
And in fact, pearls are called out as their own big trend for the year ahead. Look for them in unexpected places, like on handbag handles or even on sweater vests.
Cut Out Detailing
Cut-outs were another common theme throughout the fashion style shows. And they’re not a new trend. In fact, they’ve really been popping up in various styles of clothing ever since somewhere around the early 2000s. Expect to see them even more in everything from skirts to shirts and even pants.
Fringe is Fantastic
Another reappearing trend in 2022 will be the return of all things fringed. This, too, really never went away entirely. But we’ll probably see lots more of this bohemian-inspired trend going forward. Dip your toe into this trend by trying out a fringed jacket.
Pattern Mixing
Go bold or go home with this year’s fun trend of mixing and matching different patterns. Pair snakeskin pants with a vibrant floral blouse and you’ve got this trend nailed down. If that feels too bold for you, add a solid color layering piece over the blouse to keep things from feeling too wild.
Ruching
A well-placed bit of ruching can work wonders to camouflage a bit of holiday weight gain. Fortunately, we’ll be seeing plenty of dresses with ruching in 2022. Ruching also adds an element of fun to spruce up an otherwise plain dress.
Shades of Green
Sunglasses are needed year-round, and apparently green sunglasses are going to be hot this year. Go lime green, neon green, or branch out with other vibrant hues like blue-green or turquoise.
Knee High Boots
Perfect for cold weather, knee-high boots are rising up again. There will be tons of different styles to choose from, whether you like embellished or plain, patterned or solid.
Fashions of the Future
Wearable clothing isn’t all that could be trending in the fashion world. Actually, fashion has been exploring the world of blockchain and NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
For instance, household name Gucci teamed up with Christie’s (the auction company) to launch an NFT video. It was purchased for $25,000. And, with the success of multiple NFT sales, Christie’s apparently decided to accept Ethereum as a payment from bidders.
Other big fashion names like Burberry have been working on NFT options. You’ve probably also heard of Louis Vuitton, another fashion brand that now offers 30 NFTs. Balenciaga and Dolce & Gabbana are also stepping forward into the world of blockchain technology with NFTs.
Rebecca Minkoff is yet another fashion brand embracing blockchain. They’re taking a slightly different approach though, with NFTs being used to support certain charities.
Stepping into the Future of Fashion
It’s fun to take a look at upcoming fashion trends, even if they’re not something many people would wear. Yet it’s also intriguing to see so many renowned fashion brands working with blockchain. Perhaps NFTs could become a hot fashion trend in 2023?
