According to a Fortune report, Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao, the former CEO of Binance, will be released from prison on Friday, September 27. This is two days earlier than expected owing to a US legislation that prohibits weekend releases.
CZ has completed 116 days of his four-month sentence for money laundering crimes. He served in a California desert prison before going to a Long Beach halfway house. CZ is likely to go by private plane after his release, possibly to Dubai or Paris to meet his relatives. His legal team has declared that he will not give interviews on release day.
During his imprisonment, CZ participated in supervised excursions, such as movie outings. Before his imprisonment, he met with entrepreneurs around the US, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, to explore company ideas.
CZ's future goals include Giggle Academy, an online educational enterprise unrelated to crypto. He's also expressed an interest in AI and biotech ventures. The crypto industry is facing more regulatory scrutiny, and Binance is still dealing with legal issues. Despite this, CZ appears to be on the verge of a return in the new tech industry.
