Grayscale CEO Sonnenshein Resigns

Grayscale CEO Michael Sonnenshein is leaving the company after a decade. Peter Mintzberg, currently the head of strategy at Goldman Sachs, will take over on August 15.

Mintzberg, who has a strong foundation in asset management from his time at BlackRock, OppenheimerFunds, and Invesco, will lead Grayscale into its next chapter of expansion.

Barry Silbert, CEO of parent company Digital Currency Group, lauded Sonnenshein for his contributions to important successes such as the creation of spot bitcoin ETFs, which pushed the financial industry forward.

Grayscale, a leading name in cryptocurrency asset management, has over $50B in assets under management. This is a watershed moment for Grayscale, which hopes to grow its impact in the digital asset area with Mintzberg's significant experience.
